Antique Carved Bone Souvenir Alligator Spyglass Letter Opener, Lookout Mountain For Sale
The head of the alligator in this neat old letter opener has a tiny pin-hole sized dot in the middle of its head. If you peer into that hole just right, you see a picture of a very steep mountain. Beneath the picture are written the words “Incline No. 2, Lookout Mt.” and below that “Lookout Mountain.” You can see the tiny hole in Photos 1 and 5, among others. Item looks to be carved from a horn, possibly a deer. Signature scratched on the bottom says “George M. Reed.” 8 inches long.
CONDITION: Excellent. There is some slight loss of bone at the tail end of the opener. Photo 9 shows it best. You can see the signature in Photo 9 as well.
Please look carefully at the photos. They tell it all.
Shipping within 24 to 48 hours of payment. Thanks for looking.
