Made over 100 years ago, in the hands of a collector for the last 45 years, comes this wonderful cast iron antique BLANK 12 GA SIGNAL CANNON retains most of it\'s original finish, what a beautiful piece, the base appears to have been hand made for this, probably about 50 years ago, it has 1 broken wheel. The triggering mechanism works well, it\'s a 2 stage mechanism, you pull the lower handle which is attached to a strong spring and the firing pin, then move the lever above it to hold the pin back, then tie a string to the top piece and pull, I have not actually fired this with a shell, I have just tested the mechanism. It is pictured with a used 12 gauge shell for the purpose of showing how it fits, it will NOT be shipping with the used shell. This item is more than 100 years old and does NOT require a license to buy or sell, it is a SIGNAL Cannon and as such is designed to make a very loud noise only, the front of the cannon is PLUGGED and therefore cannot shoot anything. One very small piece is missing, it\'s a pin that would hold the cannon shut for firing, the original piece would have been a small rod of probably cast iron with a 45 degree bend in it, simple enough to find a steel rod to use for the purpose of firing this should you decide to do so. So the pin Is missing, but the other side with the pivot point does work and is there. Length 7.125\" weight is 2 lb 10 oz.
