Antique Cast Iron Sailor Still Penny Bank Hubley Product Description

Antique cast iron still bank cast in the form of a sailor dressed in a white and blue sailor attire with a white hat having a blue rim. The bank has the coin slot on the sailor\'s back on the edge of the blue handkerchief. The sailor is saluting with his right hand and is holding an oar with his left hand. The oar is resting on his side and shoulder. He has blue eyes and a red colored mouth. There is a screw on the back to open the bank. See Don Duer\'s Book \"Penny Banks Around the World with Values\" published by Schiffer books 1997, page 10 for a similar example by Hubley (it is rated as hard to find except in good collections). The piece is painted in white and blue color and retains most of its original coloring with some loss. The paint appears to be all original. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Size: ~5 1/4\" high, ~3\" at its widest, and is 1 3/8\" deep. Unmarked on the exterior, we did not open the bank to check if it is marked on the inside. This is a nice antique, which would make a nice addition to your collection. The piece is in excellent condition and retains quite a bit of its original paint. It has no breaks, repairs, or major defects that we can find. It does have rust spots and loss of paint, which can be seen in the photos. Nice piece, which would make a great addition to your collection.
