Antique Cast Iron Wall Mount Mail Box Saml. C. Tatum Co. Cincinnati, Oh For Sale

Antique Cast Iron Wall Mount Mail Box Saml. C. Tatum Co. Cincinnati, Oh

This sale is for a beautiful antique heavy cast iron wall mounted mail box, manufactured by the Samuel C. Tatum Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio.   The mail box is finished in a flat black color.  It is embossed with a fleur-de-lis and the word “MAIL” on the front.  It has two lids for receiving or retrieving mail – the retrieval lid can be secured with your own padlock if you so desire.  The smaller lid is embossed “The Saml. C. Tatum Co., Cinncinnati, Ohio” on the inside.  There are open slots on the bottom of the front, so you can easily see when there is mail on the inside.  Most of the mail box is made from cast iron, but the back surface is made from a thin sheet of tin.  There are built in mounting holes, two at the top and one at the bottom – screws are not included.  The mail box measures approximately 13 ¾” tall by 6” wide by 3” deep (off the wall), and will accept envelopes up to 4” wide by 9 ½” long.  (It will accept somewhat larger or thicker items using the retrieval lid if it is not locked.)   The box weighs a little less than 5 1/2 pounds.  The mail box is in good condition for its age with smoothly operating lids, no breaks, a rough painted finish (I am not sure if it is the original paint) and only some minor rust, mainly on the back. This antique mail box will make a great addition to your collection or could still be used very smartly on your colonial styled house.  It is being offered here at a starting offer that is a small fraction of its market value and with .   A set of photographs showing a few views of the mail box is presented below.

The winning buyer is to pay shipping charges using the USPS.   Please use the shipping calculator to determine the shipping cost to your zip code or country.   I require payment through Paypal, where you can use a major credit card at no charge to the buyer.  I will ship within one day of notification of payment.

Good luck with your offerding!!
