Rare antique Chinese Late Qing Dynasty dragon robe in unusual shape and probably for theatrical purpose, featuring 11 golden 5-claw dragons embroidered in couched gilt-wrap threads amidst clouds, bats, Buddhist treasure symbols. Right-side closure using tying strings. Unlined with traces of orignal lining.
Late 19th to early 20th century.
Condition: Fair condition. Wear from age. Pulled gilt-wrap threads. Thread losses. Holes (mostly on sleeves and hem). Tears and possible missing fabric under armpits. Repairs in neck area.
