Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Military Rank Badge - Lion Or Bear For Sale
Antique Chinese late Qing dynasty military rank badge (2nd or 5th rank), featuring an appliqué lion or bear at the center and surrounded by auspicious clouds, bats, and Buddhist and Taoist treasures. Front piece. This rank badge was originally a civil one with an embroidered crane at the center. The animal appliqué was added later on top on the crane to convert it into a military badge. The crane behind the animal is still visible on the backside.
Late 19th to early 20th century.
Condition: Wear and fading from age. Loose threads at edges.
