Manchu Dragon robe with eight major 4-clawed dragons (mang), bats, coral, swastika, waves,clouds, rocks, and other Taoist auspicious symbols. Sleeve cut in Ming style. Tapestry weave brocade (k'o-ssu). Darkblue. Perhaps made for a wife of a Hanofficial in late Qing Dynasty (ca. 1850).Very good condition. Pink lining,frayed at sleeve openings. Collar lining had been restored, but lining is nowmissing. All bronze buttons and fobsintact. Garment is muted on the frontside due to light fade, but colors strong on back side. One stain band on exterior, lining also hasa water stain.
