Antique Chinese Export Silver Epergne/table Centrepiece By Kwan Wo. C1900.:
Stunning Chinese export solid silver epergne/table centrepiece, marked on the outside of the base with a Chinese character mark & the makers mark KW which I believe is for the Hong Kong maker Kwan Wo c1880-1920.The central vase is approx 10" high,it measures approx 4" across the top & approx 3" across the base, the three small detachable vases each measures approx 4 1/2" long & 2 1/2" across, the total weight of silver is approx 296 gms or 9 1/2 oz.The body of the main vase is hand engraved with flower blossoms & a bird & insect in flight, the three small vases are similarly engraved. The piece stands on a carved hard wood base & is secured in place with a brass bolt, the wooden base has some Chinese characters painted on it.The condition is good considering its age & the distance it has travelled, the edges of flutes on all the vases have some dents & there is a small split just below the cups that hold the small vases, please see final photo.I believe this piece dates to around 1900.
Please note that whilst I welcome offers from Chinese buyers I will no longer post to mainland China. On 26-May-13 at 22:53:09 BST, seller added the following information:
