Antique Chocolate Mold Ww I Doughboy Soldier Drum & Helmet For SaleThis European chocolate mold was made in Germany during the period of World War I. (I bought it in Germany back in the 1970s.) The total size is 4 x 2.5 inches, and the soldier measures 2.75 x 1.75 inches with the cavity 3/8 inches deep.
The soldier is wearing a military uniform typical of the period, with helmet, boots, backpack, billy club, etc. It is rare to see a soldier playing a musical instrument, but this one is marching and playing a drum! The mold is made of metal, although I'm not sure if it is steel, zinc, or an alloy. It has a hole at the top for hanging. Most, if not all, of the factories that made these molds were later destroyed by WW II bombing and no longer exist.
