Antique Country Primitive Staved Wooden Butter Churn, Iron Bands, 19th Century For Sale
Here's a handsome, antique, wooden butter churn in excellent, well-preserved condition. Made of pine staves, it has four metal bands that keep it tight and secure. It dates back to the late 1800s and still has its original, carved, fitted splash cover that has a cute little handle that adds some folksy charm to the piece. Found in an old barn, this butter churn has a great patina with rich, warm coloring along with very nice graining. The surface shows age and signs of past use making it much more interesting and attractive than any reproduction. Even decades of forgotten storage has contributed to its beautiful look.
With the dasher, this churn stands 27 1/2 inches high; without it, it is 18 inches tall. It has a wonderful, graduated, almost conical shape with the top measuring 6 1/16 inches in diameter widening out towards the bottom where the diameter is 8 inches. Solid, tight, and sound, this is one rugged, old butter churn that won't fall apart on you. Best of all, there are no problems with active woodworms, termites, or dry rot. It's an especially nice-looking piece that will display nicely wherever it's placed. Great for decorating the kitchen, fireplace hearth, porch, cottage or cabin! Guaranteed old and authentic, you won't be disappointed in this!
