Antique Cup With Interesting History. Made By Gardner Of Moscow For Afghanistan For Sale
I am saleing off an antique cup with an interesting history. It was made between 1890-1917 by the Gardner Factory of Moscow for export to the Mideast, more specifically, Afghanistan. Note the Gardner of Moscow, factory mark, with the Russian Imperial Eagle and Arabic marks underneath. On the side of the cup is an insignia for the kingdom of Afghanistan. It bears an inventory mark on the bottom of 509. At some time between then and the middle 1900s, the cup was broken and repaired. Note the repair, it is very interesting, to think that at one time dishes were repaired like this. In the 1950s or early 60s, this cup was purchased by my husband's grandfather, while he was working in the Mideast, primarily Afghanistan. It then set in a trunk in California and then came with us to NH in 1998. I am very curious to where this cup will travel next. Shipment will be priority mail, USPS and will require signature confirmation. If offerding outside of the continental USA, please ask for a postage quote before offerding. All tariffs, duties, taxes etc. are the responsibility of the buyer. Payment is expected within 5 days of the sale's end or the cup will be put back up for sale. If you have any questions or would like more pictures, feel free to ask. Thank you for looking,
