Antique Doll German Made 1890-1920 Bisque 28" Brown Hair & Eyes Open Mouth:
This is what I have been told :It is a bisque headed doll made in Germany about 1890 to 1920s. The body is ball jointed composition body made of paper mache and pressed into molds until dry. Then sprayed with a flesh color with a final coat of shellac.Blown glass eyes. Open mouth with teeth. The hands have been replaced. The head is liquid porcelain clay poured unto molds until set up. High fired to 1800 degrees in a kiln to turn it into porcelain. Then painted with china paints and re-fired at a much lower temperature to set the paint, so it won't wash off.She is missing part or her finger.
