An early 20th century blowpipe dart quiver, possibly from the Dayak people of Borneo (Indonesia).
The quiver is utilitarian and is made from a section of bamboo, with a bamboo end cap sealed with wax or resin, wax finished woven rattan bindings, & a woven rattan hinged lid. There are two cords attached to the binding, one of which ends in a monkey bone (perhaps a good luck charm ?)
The interior is fitted with hollow wooden cylinders, to house individual darts (there is only 1 partial dart present).
Condition is used, with signs of use and wear commensurate with age, but no damage other than a couple of loose rattan strands and a split at the top of the bambooo.
The total height (inc. lid) is approx 20 1/4" (52cm), with the actual bamboo body standing just over 15" (38.5cm) high. The diameter is approx 3" (7.5cm).
