Antique Early Signed E. Howard Square Bottom Single Weight Banjo Wall Clock 1800
This is a Very Early E. Howard Square Bottom Single Weight Banjo Clock 1800s. This is a running clock but it does need to be leave to run. I don't know a lot about E. Howard banjo clocks but I do believe it is a very early movement. The movement is signed E. Howard & Co. Boston I believe it is an 8 day clock movement I ran it for about an hour but took it down because I did not feel safe where it was hanging it's a high traffic area in our house!!! The clock is old I'm assuming it is original but I have questions on the bezel it is a very heavy gauge brass and the others I found in my research have wooden bezels so I'm not sure it is correct ? It is old it has signs of wear one side on the lower case has some repairs and there is old paint specks and old paint on the backs edge. The finish does look to be original also the pendulum and weight are original. The dial is a 7 1/2" dial it has touch ups on it but still looks to be in fair condition. You have to lift the bezel door very slightly to close it but it locks in fine. The over all condition for it's age is very good but not perfect!!! I think it is a # 5 but I'm truly not sure!!! The height 29" and it weighs 15.5 pounds. This wonderful old clock will need to come apart for shipping and the weight should be shipped in a different package I will add extra weight for this purpose!!! Thank you for your interest!!
