Antique East Lake Victorian Deep Walnut Gold Gilt/ebony Etched Picture Frame :
This frame is just beautiful, it is an antique Aesthetic Movement frame made of Walnut (or possibly Mahogany) wood. The picture frame is a 2-3/4" overall depth. It has a gold gilt liner, then a layer of ebony with etchings on all four sides, and then another layer of gold gilt and then the beautiful walnut wood to finish out the frame. It is in good antique condition; the wood frame may have had a coating of a clear finish some time in the past and shows some very minor wear, but nothing that detracts from the overall beauty. The glass is in good condition and is original and very old as can be seen by the waves and bubbles in the glass, which is natural for glass this old and is not a defect that hinders the viewing of the art of photo in the frame. (Be sure to view all photos as they are considered a part of this description, and ask any questions on what you don't see before deciding to purchase because we don't do returns or refunds.)
The frame currently has a colored lithograph of a flower, titled Camellia Sophia. This is a deep cove picture frame in keeping with the antique era. The frame holds up to a 8" X 10" photo or a 9" X 11" piece of art, and is 13" X 15" overall. The frame is set up to hang vertical but, if you choose to put in your own photo or piece of art and it needs to be horizontal, the frame can also be used in the horizontal direction with a quick change of the existing hanging hardware. The dust cover on the back is in very good (not perfect) condition. It is rare to find a frame as old as this one and be in as good of condition with the original glass as this one, that is as intricately made with many different layers of different material. It would indicate that the prior owner took very good care of the frame and print. It would make a lovely display piece for your historic home circa late 1800's - early 1900's and be a great addition to your collection that few others would have, or it would look fabulous in an historic bed & breakfast.
