Antique Edwardian Batiste Garden Wedding Dress High Relief Embroidery Lace Net For Sale
Antique Edwardian BATISTE Garden Wedding Dress High Relief Embroidery Lace Net
In the early 1900's a young lady designed and hand assembled this dress..perhaps for her wedding or other special occasion. Semi-sheer batiste fabric with high relief padded satin stitch embroidery with fine lace netting for the cape/collar, sleeves and bottom of skirt. The bodice is gathered at the waist, pouter pigeon front, elbow length sleeves with ruffles and lace trim, lace insert in the back. The lace net cape/collar drapes over the shoulders, is constructed of two pieces of lace netting, attaches in the back and closes in the front with a snap. The front of the embroidered bodice overlaps and closes with snaps. Two of the embroidered floral designs were cut from the fabric and sewn onto the shoulder area. Lace accent on shoulder seam as well. Shirred waist with hook and eye closure (waist too small to close on mannequin) and opening on side with snaps. Bottom of skirt is scalloped with a piece of netting sewn on underside.
Approx flat measurements: Waist 11"...Bust 17" (very full in front)...skirt length 32"..dress length from shoulder 46"
In good condition for age..three or four small holes..few tiny spots and stain on skirt edge in one spot..tear in lace netting where fastens to back of dress and in front by snap closure..tear by side snap opening. Has not been laundered...believe a good soak and hand-laundering would remove most if not all of the surface soiling/spots and with careful repair of lace netting tears and side tear this dress could be worn or would be a wonderful display dress..offered with ...see photos for details and condition.
