Spode - Rare Antique Gilt Porcelain Low Scent Jar - Pattern No. 671 - Circa 1805:
Antique - SPODE- Georgian period - exceptional and rare - twin handled gilded porcelain large 'Low Scent Jar' - decorated with pattern number 671 - unmarked - illustrated on page 28 of Spode by Robert Copeland - the shape is also illustrated in the Spode Exhibition onlinepage 31/scent jars - finest quality hand painted gilding - outlined with red oxide in contrast to the soft white background of the glazed porcelain - Stoke-on-Trent - England - circa 1805. The over-all condition of this pre-owned antique item isexcellent - one handle repaired/with one chip (as photographed) - one handle with twochips (as photographed) - one small rim chip - hairline crack in the body (probably part of the manufacturing process) gilding that come with age and use - glaze crazing (mostly to the interior). Most of the condition issues could be easily taken care ofby a good ceramics conservator - if desired. Size -6 3/4"W x5 3/8"D x 8 1/8"H.
