sterling silver thimble has an engraved rim and applied gold ivy leaves
the hand engraved band. An applied gold heart serves as the cartouche
(not personalized). It has the English
sterling hallmarks for Chester 1896 and the maker's mark for Henry
Griffith & Sons.
It's about an
American size 8 (15 mm diameter opening). The top has been repaired to
fill a couple of needle holes. The condition
is otherwise good, in round with no other damage. A couple of Charles
Horner's thimbles with this style band are shown
97 of Bridget McConnel's
book The Story of the
Thimble. I've never seen one by Henry Griffith before.
