Poesy Rings - \"I do not wish to love any other than you\" Hand-crafted in the U.S. by the ancient art of lost-wax casting. This is a gorgeous reproduction of an antique poesy ring 

15th C. English rings were often inscribed with French poesies, no doubt for the same reason we think of French as the language of love today. On a floral motif band are inscribed the French words for I do not wish to love any other than you in Gothic script. The original in yellow gold, from which this reproduction is licensed, is in the Museum of London.

In 14K yellow gold with antiquing, the slight darkening of lettering and design. 

Antiquing:  The rings shown here have been antiqued, meaning the lettering and design elements have been slightly darkened. If you choose not to have antiquing, the lettering and design elements will be lighter and brighter. Please note that the antiquing (the usually soft medium-grey of the lettering and/or designs) on Poesy Rings is hand-applied. 

Fun facts: Whether spelled posie, poesy, posey, or posy, the word is pronounced like \"posy\" and refers to a ring that was popular during medieval and Renaissance times as a gift from lover to betrothed upon marriage. Quotations from courtship stories were inscribed, usually on the inside, but sometimes on the outside of the ring. Shakespeare popularized the rings by mentioning them in several of his plays. In Hamlet, \"Is this a prologue or the posy of a ring?\"
