Product DetailsItem #:5-127-0Dimensions (inches):13.25H x 4.50W x 3.50DComment:This vibrantly colorful antique chalkware sculpture of Saint Joseph with his son, Jesus Christ, dates to circa 1910 and was found at an antiques market in France. The composition of this antique sculpture is quite lovely as Saint Joseph, the patron saint of fathers, holds a lily branch and puts his arm protectively around the Christ Child. Jesus reaches up to his father with the crown of thorns in his hand and the cross in the other, already aware of the sacrifice he will make for mankind. This beautiful antique sculpture of Saint Joseph with Jesus would make a wonderful Father's Day
gift for the special man in your overall good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature show normal wear to finish and miscellaneous scratches, nicks, and dings due to age and use. As we define 'good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see 'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings to a wooden, metal, enamel, or chalkware object, wear to a painted surface, speckling on a mirror, crazing, wear to gilding, or manufacturing glaze skips in ceramic finish, wear to a label, and some original decorative trim may be missing. If ceramic/porcelain restoration has been done, it is of museum-quality so that it is hardly discernible and would be specifically mentioned in the listing. 'Good condition' could include very small fleabite chips or very small hairline cracks in any glass, ceramic, or marble item, but these would be specifically mentioned in the listing.Item Specifics:Shows normal wear to the painted finish and miscellaneous nicks, dings, and scratches due to age and use. There is a small hole in Joseph's head and on the base and chips on Joseph's robe.ShippingFree Shipping:Free shipping only applies within the Contiguous 48 United States and this item will be shipped via a Ground shipping service (UPS or FedEx), approximate 1-6 business day shipping time. Joseph was visited by angels and is noted for his willingness to immediately do what God told him to do. Joseph was a carpenter and many Christian teachings emphasize his patience, persistence, and hard work as admirable qualities to be imitated. Catholics believe he prays especially for families, fathers, expectant mothers, travelers, immigrants, house sellers and buyers, craftsmen, engineers, and working people in general. Joseph is often depicted holding the Christ child and a lily, which represents chastity and purity. According to Christian folklore, burying a statue of Saint Joseph on a piece of real estate for sale is reputed to enlist the saint’s assistance in finding a buyer. Subject Keywords:Joseph & Jesus (St Joseph)Style: ReligiousRELIGIOUSReligion is often described as a communal system for the coherence of belief focusing on a system of thought, unseen being, person, or object that is considered sacred, divine, or of the highest truth. The Christian religion is centered on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God. Christianity has played a prominent role in shaping Western civilization since the 4th century. Currently Christianity has between 1.5 billion and 2.1 billion followers, representing about a quarter to a third of the world’s population. With more than 1 billion members, the Roman Catholic Church is the largest church representing over half of all Christians and one sixth of the world’s population.
