Antique French Gilded Silver Carnations Thimble W/ Waffle Knurling * Circa 1900s:
Antique Gilded Silver Carnations Thimble w/ Waffle Knurling French * Circa 1900s This pretty silver thimble has "waffle" style knurling and graceful Art Nouveau Carnations decorate the band and go up into the knurling. It is stamped with the tiny French boar's head hallmark that indicates 800/1000 pure silver and the maker's mark. The lettering "SEM G" on the side is the mark of the designer, George Goursat. The condition is excellent, in round with no holes, repairs or other damage and it's about an American size 10 (16.75 mm diameter opening). The design is gilded and it's gilded inside. This thimble is from the collection of Diane Pelham Burn and this is the piece that was photographed on p. 37 and the front cover of Thimbles of France with Waffled Knurling by Beryl Frank.
