Stunning Rare Authentic Antique French Religious Decorative Church Altar Bible or Missel Stand Circa.1905-an Unique & Engraved Souvenir of a 1st Communion from 11 Juin/June,1905 making an Unique find for anyone decorating on a Chic & Shabby Vintage French Theme. Featuring Incredible Ornate Decoration with Be-Jewelled Openwork Gilt Metal & Gothic-style Claw & Scrolled Feet-Simply Superb!
Discovered at a Brocante in the Poitou-Charentes region of South West France, it was found on the floor amongst other Religious Artifacts, this is an Extremely Rare find for any collector.
In very goodbut expected Vintage Condition throughout-it was, & still is as found,dusty & in need of a good clean,with one of the Hinges of the Easel Stand displaying a small repair which has loosened & needs possibly re-welding but could easily be restored & doesn't affect the fixing of the backplate for use.
The Gilt Openwork Toleware eminates a lovely warm golden colour but would still benefit from a very good clean.The brass rest plate displaying some rubbing of the religious symbols it is decorated with including central Crucifix but this is to be expected from years & years of use-they are all still seen, just not as clearly as they once would have been.
Superb ornate decoration throughout with multi-coloured Faux Jewel-Ideal for Vintage display.
Measures 12.50 inches width across the base from "feet" x 5.50 inches deep/& 12.75 x 7.00 inches dimension across the top when folded down/Weight-2.080 kgs unpacked.
