Antique French Porcelain Handpainted Trinket Box With Sèvres Mark:
This porcelain box has a beautifully handpainted rose floral spray surrounded by fancy gilt trim on a puce and dark pink background. The interior carries a single rose on both the inside lid and the bottom of the box.
The bottom shows the Sèvres mark, but it is likely that the origin of the box lies in Limoges. The date is uncertain, but would appear to be around 1900. Please do review the photographs.
There are no chips, cracks or hairlines in the porcelain. The painting and gilding show little wear. The metal rims, apparently brass or gilded bronze, are in very good condition and the hinges and clasp are secure and in good working order.
All in all, this is a very beautiful and desirable example of French hand painted porcelain.
