This is an antique Georgian silver egg shaped nutmeg grater, circa 1775, by Samuel Meriton II of London. It is of plain egg form with a screw closure and removable pierced steel grater. Inside the lid it has 'SM' for Samuel Meriton but no other hallmark which was common around this time on pieces such as these.
Dimensions; length approx. 3cm and diameter across grater 1.7cm.
Weight; approx. 12 grams.
The overall condition is great as shown in the photographs (there is a thin seam split and just light scratches/dings) so please view all pictures as they form part of the description.
