Antique Georgian Complete Set (3 Pairs) Of Scissors In Original Tooled Leather C:
A late Georgian Set of Scissors in their original blue velvet lined leather case.Three are three pairs of scissors, a gilded pair that I imagine were intended for public sewing work and two plain steel pairs for more utilitarian use, with built in candle wick trimmers. The two steel pairs both carry inscriptions which I have shown in the photographs and are in very good condition.
(I found this regarding who R Gorrill was: Gorrill, Robert ( scissor manufacturers).
Address: 159 Eyre Street, Sheffield in 1846.
Recorded in: Slaters 1846 Directory, Sheffield.)The gilded pair seem to have been used more and are loose and a bit bent at the tip.The case is in excellent condition both inside and out and still closes nicely but please study all my photographs for the best idea. The case measures 6 inch long.A set worthy of museum display. They will be very carefully packed and shipped via Royal Mail.
I save my most interesting and unusual items until this time of year. Please keep an eye on my listings if you are looking for something a little bit different to give this Christmas.Something for everyone.
