Antique Georgian Lacquered Brass Folding Botany Microscope Flea Glass:
An antique lacquered brass folding botany microscope, I think sometimes called a flea glass
This will date to early 1800's and possibly a little earlier, I think they were first made in the late 1700's
The nut seen bottom pic 4 seperates and one part has flat sides, enabling it to be attached to the protruding bar, the blued steel forceps then slot through the nut, the spike part forming a handle and allowing the forceps to be slid towards the lens
The condition of all parts is good, the lens clear and with good magnification, most of the lacquer remains and the handle also good with no splits or chips.
Measures from the top of the lens to the bottom of the handle 3 3/4 inches the protruding bar measures 2 3/8th inches
The case is present but as seen in poor condition, one end split and the other end missing
