A fine and impressive pair of antique German silver candlesticks made in the Regency style; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection
These antique German silver candlesticks have a circular shaped form to a scrolling boss and rounded base.
The candlesticks have shaped capitals encircled with four embossed scrolling leaf designs accented with oval motifs, all above a band of bead decoration.
Each capital retains the original detachable push fit sconce encompassed with a shaped egg decorated border incorporating a scrolling motif to each lobe.
The tapering segmented columns have rounded forms and surmount impressive rounded knops, reflecting the same ornamentation to that of the capitals.
Each impressive column is supported by a quatrefoil shaped boss, accented with embossed scrolling designs to each corner subdiving fruiting vine grape clusters and wheat stalk ornamentation accented with further oval motifs.
The Regency style bases have plain swept portions to bands of scrolling leaf and floral decoration incorporated into an impressive bracket style foot to each corner.
These impressive antique silver candlesticks do not have weighted bases and allow access to the four screw fitments; these screws are used to secure the boss and column to the base.
The hallmark to the underside of each impressive candlesticks denotes the minimum purity as 812.5 standard silver (13 löthige/loth, .812.5 (812.5/1000)); these candlesticks have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as .815 standard silver.
These antique German silver candlesticks are a very good gauge of silver and excellent quality for their type.
These silver candlesticks are in exceptional presentation condition.
The embossed decoration is all very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base are all clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique German silverware.
