Antique German Silver Thimble, Carnelian Stone Top
SEE ADDITIONAL PICTURES BELOW
Superb antique German silver thimble with red carnelian stone crown, plain knurled top over a band of fine crow's foot or trefoil leaves and vacant shield cartouche. The skirt of the thimble is finely knurled or textured and has an applied pierced work scalloped rim. Evidence of gilding on the inside. Although the thimble has no identifying marks it is highly likely that it is at least 800/1000 grade silver and was most probably made by Gabler Brothers of Schorndorf, Germany in the late 19th or very early 20th century. In excellent condition - in round and free of holes, dents, damage and repairs. Height approx. 2.2 cm; internal base diameter approx. 1.6 cm; weight 4.5 grams.
