Here is an Antique Handsaw E.C.Atkins Silver Steel 7-7-96 Pat. dateShip Point No.50 Rare 11ppi
This is a Nice functional, useable saw still somewhat sharp. It is in used condition. It is very straight with no bends.
As far as condition it is really very nice, considering its last patent date is 1896.
The exotic wood handle is slightly chipped near the top very minor. No cracks or checks. There is naturally many surface scratches and normal wear and tear.
The overall length is 19" and the actual steel blade portion measures 16". I am not the original owner it may have been modified in length?
A super floral carved grip. I am unsure of the wood species. All saw nuts, and emblem nut seem to be original to itself.
Etchings that I can read say,
"E.C.ATKINS & CO. SILVER STEEL AAA WARRANTED INDIANAPOLIS, IND. MADE IN THE USA PATENTED JULY 7 1896 DAMASKEENED MASS? US NO. 50 PAT. OFFICE SHIP POINT"
"THIS SAW IS MADE OF SILVER STEEL IN WORKMANSHIP FINISH AND DURABILITY E.C.ATKINS"
It is a great old tool from the past that is still useable, and soughtafter by collectors.
It does naturally have normal useage signs, but none of which I consider major.
If you are viewing it you most likely know more about it than me. Any info could help me add to the listing.
