Antique Hidden Mother Circle Of Life And Death Tintype Photograph Grandparent :
For your consideration is this fabulous "Hidden Mother" tintype from the 1850s. They are called "Hidden Mothers" because the photographer would hide the mother behind a curtain, throw, or chair. This enabled the photographer to take a solo portrait of the baby while the mother held them still for the duration of the photography process. This one is incredibly artistic, in my opinion, with the exposed ancient and weathered hand the parent or grandparent. It is a very poetic image of the circle of Life and Death.
It is in Fine condition. It has some scratches to the emulsion. It measures 3.25 by 2 inches.
Photos like these (tintypes, daguerreotypes, and ambrotypes) are one of a kind. This is the only copy. If you are attracted to it, snatch it up before it disappears forever into someone else's collection.
