Presentedhere is a delightful and highly sought-after, 5 bobeche cup, iron candlestickby Hugo Berger, known for his Jugenstile hand-wrought iron work in Germanyduring the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Exact date of this piece is notknown, but is certainly Circa 1900.

Thecandlestick has a delicate floral design and was painted before we acquired itand it has not been stripped. Thepictures show pealing of paint where the paint was applied over wax drips andit has apparently pealed away, but overall the candlestick is in excellentshape. The candlebase is stamped\"GERMANY\" on the underside of base.The five bobeche cups are in excellent shape with no deformaties ordamage. Candlestick fittings are tightand not loose. There is no apparent damageto the candlestick.

Using GOfrom his first name and Berg his last name, Hugo Berger is known asGoBerg. He is known for creating asort-of mass produced method for the English Arts & Craft movement or in German the \"Jugenstil\" arts andcrafts movement. The forte of GobergMetalworks was candlestick holders, but he also made other metalworks and weremade from United Kingdom iron and sold through Liberty & Company from about1910 through 1920.
