Antique Japan Meiji Period Bronze Vase By Takao Sadashichi,This Artist Exhibited At World\'s Columbian exposition 1893 and at the 1904 St. Louis Universal Exposition.
Exquisite!!! and Very Rare!!!.Japan Late *Meiji Period (1868-1912)* Bronze vase,by important bronze maker *Takao Sadashichi*,the vase having stunning details in relief of birds amongst flowers and leafs,a true work of art,very well signed on the bottom.
As far as the inscriptions on the bottom goes, reading from the top, right, left and center, 大日本 Dai-Nippon Great Japan (an indication of late 19th-century date / 大阪 Osaka (place of production) / 高尾定七 Takao Sadashichi (the name of bronze merchant) / 龍民 Ryumin (dragon).
高尾定七 Takao Sadashichi is listed as a bronze merchant with over 500,000 yen in his business; born in 1848 as the third son of Iwai Hanbei, an ordinary citizen of Osaka; in Meiji 1873 he married intothe Takao family and changed his business name to Shima sada 島定; iin 1906 he became the president of the Takao Company.
Takao Sadashichi exhibited in the World\'s Columbian exposition May 1st to October 30th 1893 and also the 1904 St. Louis Universal Exposition.
