This is for an antique Japanese bronze gold silver shakudo four-case inro, Edo Period (1603-1868), circa early 1800. Made of bronze, rectangular in form, with four interlocking compartments, each with a gilded interior, used for storing seals, writing equipment and other everyday implements. The front and reverse are decorated with shakudo, made of gold and silver precious metal alloys, each in the form of a seventeen petal chrysanthemum flower mon. Unmarked / unsigned. It measures 6.6 cm in length, and 4.6 cm in width. It weighs 103 grams. The condition is generally excellent, the bronze has the patina of age, with a very small dint to the top compartment, and two shakudo chrysanthemums missing, no other damage. Please see images..
