Antique Japanese Meiji Period Carved Bone Okimono Elephant c1910
This is for an antique Japanese Meiji period carved ox bone elephant, circa 1910. Made of ox bone, carved in the form of an elephant, striding forwards, its head turned slightly to the right, with curved trunk, its leathery skin is well carved. This okimono measures 48 mm in length and 31 mm in heihgt. It weighs 18 grams. The condition is generally excellent, wihtout damage or repair, the ox bone has a lightly yellowed hue, with two light skrinkage marks along the back, which is the patina of age. Please see images.
