Up for offer is a spectacular antique 19th century hand carved bog oak box from Killarney, Ireland. This is a stunning piece and available just in time for that special gift for St. Patrick's Day. This rare box has a deep rich patina and has ornate carvings throughout. The box has carved images of clovers on all sides and with the inside doors. The lid with a leaf scalloped edge surrounds a celtic cottage with tall trees flanking both sides. The doors have roses on all corners and a celtic castle on the right door and a cathedral / church on the left door. There are three draws, top draw has carved grapes and leaves, middle draw has acorns and oak leaves and the bottom draw has clovers. There is an old antique card found within the box which reads To Robert Black from his Killarney Friends. If you like the photos you will love this box in person. Please view my other items.
Box is in good condition for age. There seems to have been repairs to it over the years. Ther is a lock but no key (it does not lock on its own so no worries) The lock is a bit loose on the inside door and may need simple repair (screw to keep it in place). Knobs on center draw has missing piece (see pic). Very minor craqualure. Some nicks to corners and age wear. Overall very good. (see pics).
