Amazingly good condition considering the estimated age of this textile. There are no holes or tears. One small break in the top (shown). Some very old and tiny repairs to the linen, evident upon close inspection. This is primitive hand woven linen and an example of one of the earliest forms of needle lace.
The piece comes from a lace collectors estate and is part of a very old altar front. It\'s appeal to the overall collection being it\'s an example piece of the origins of lace making, which greatly expanded from this original form. It may also be of interest to those who collect early religious artifacts.
It would also be a great decorator piece adding textural interest to any decor with an interesting conversation to add about the history. Rich piece.
