You are offerding on the exact items you see in the photos. You get 6 full door knobs, 1 Rosette, and 4 Key holes. We are no experts and all the info we found on the internet. These itemsare a bit hard to find. Please see all photos and consider them a part of the description. These are not in perfect condition but they are over 110 years old!! These door knobs, Rosette, and Key hole coversare made from a material called Hemacite. In 1877 and 1878 a man named William Dibble patented a unique process for making molded items out of animal blood and sawdust. The sawdust and cattle and pigs blood were abundant bi-products that were just going to waste. I know it sounds a bit macabre but if you think about it, this process was very resourceful and biodegradable and safer for the Environment. The Dibble Manufacturing Company in Trenton, N.J. was formed to produce doorknobs and other items like roller skate wheels, cash register keys, telephone receivers and buttons as well as extensive use in Victorian jewelry. The process used hydraulic pressure of around 40,000 psi to press the mixture of blood and sawdust into the detailed designs. There were only a few designs used from what we can tell. We think this design was one of two or so made by Dibble and distributed by the Nashua Lock Co. I do not see any markings on the hemacite or metal parts. Again, these are not perfect, they do show signs of age and use, these were salvaged from a home restoration in the PA area. We have not tried to clean these. We do not clean our items as we do not want to damage or devalue anything. Unlike brass, bronze, and other metals, hemacite does not develop a patina. The friction of many many years or twisting in peoples hands, the fluting on the edges and such gets worn off a bit as is the case with these. If you look very closely, you can see some of the sawdust particles and such. There is a great bit of wear on these as well as some paint but the amazing thing is that they exist!! These are great items for any collection to sit on the shelf and tell people what they are made from or to actually use or replace parts with in an existing house. Again, please see all photos and consider them a part of the description and please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
