We are having an inventory reduction sale, and will be selling a significant number of our finest watches, most all with extremely modest (e.g. even less than gold value) or s. Gold is trading at near time highs, and some people may have a special interest in the solid gold pocket watches we have for sale, as well as silver, antique clocks, and other timepieces.Every so often we come across a pocket watch or antique clock that would have truly amazing stories to tell if it could share what it has seen. THIS Captain's Watch, also sometimes referred to as a Doctor's watch, would no doubt have many amazing anecdotes to share. Not only does this AMAZINGLY OLD -- we ESTIMATE CIRCA 1840 -- pocket watch tell the time in 2 different time zones, and not only does it have a subsidiary seconds dial, but it ALSO has a Chronometer function with a center seconds sweep -- and that last function is the only one that is not working fully, but we believe can be repaired if desired. There is a lever near the bow of the watch that starts and should stop the center seconds hand. It works only intermittently on start-up, same with stopping, and the center seconds sweep will occasionally ship over a few seconds -- most likely needing a new or repaired wheel for seamless center seconds sweep.IT IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION TO SAY THAT ONE MAY NEVER AGAIN COME ACROSS A POCKET WATCH WITH THESE MANY AND SAME FEATURES. WE HAVE ONLY SEEN A VERY SMALL NUMBER OVER MANY MANY YEARS, AND NONE FOR SALE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS!This M.I. Tobias (started making pocket watches in 1805) British Made, signed M I Tobias, Liverpool, is also signed on its cuvette Fully Jewelled, and has the great descriptive name Double Time Keeper. The watch also has a unique serial number. This watch is in a Double Hunter Case, and has three (3) holes, 2 for setting the time in each time zone, and one for winding this fine watch. What may well be the original winding key, as pictured in some of the photos, is also included. The pocket watch is KWKS, also known as KW KS, or Keywind, Keyset. The pocket Watch has a Solid Silver DOUBLE HUNTER Pocket Watch Case, most likely Sterling Silver, and is signed by At BROSSARD. The pocket watch case is amazingly elegant in its simplicity and design, including all the covers, and the Lever on the side of the case to operate the center seconds dial. The measurement of this watch are 2 inches (about 5.1 cm) across , excluding the bow and the stem. This is a large multi-functional complicated timepiece that still has much life in it despite its obvious imperfections. Note also that the pictures are and should be an intergral part of the description of this historic timepiece.A watch like this could be the centerpiece of many a high-end collection. Pocket watches, and even watches in general, are not made like these anymore.
On payment, Buyer and Seller must both agree and feel comfortable with any transaction payment approach (and by offerding you agree to the transaction being canceled if this standard is not mutually met). If you do not have a lot of positive response (e.g. 100+), payment may be required to be made by wire transfer. Having said that, the sale is open to customers worldwide. Serious buyers only please, and if any doubt or questions about anything, including payment, please email to address before making any offer or purchase. We will ship anywhere in the world, but the mutual comfort level standard must be met and agreed to by both parties, with no negative response should this somehow become an issue (it has never been an issue historically!).AT CUSTOMER'S REQUEST, WE WILL SHIP VIA USPS AROUND THE WORLD AND AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE, AS LONG AS WE CAN DO SO BOTH FULLY INSURED AND WITH SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION!While this pocket watch keeps reasonably accurate time and is absolutely in very good running condition, it is not sold with any guarantee as to timekeeping, and if this is important to the new owner, it may require some adjustments after shipping. The watch, though, is in excellent condition inside and out, as described above and shown in the pictures, for a watch this complicated, and that has obviously seen so much use, and as seen in the photos accompanying the Description. Please also take a look at the Howard Miller Grandfather Clocks, Howard Miller Wall Clocks, and Howard Miller Mantle Clocks we have for sale on .We always strive for 100% customer satisfaction, and if you have any issues with your purchase, please contact us first and we will attempt to address them reasonably to the best of our ability. If you look up our company online with our Company name being 1-800-4CLOCKS, you will see that not only are we very well-established, but we also currently have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau. And please always feel free to contact us with any questions any time.
