Antique Meissen Porcelain & Gold Gilded Candle Holder, 19th Century Porcelain:
This rare, museum worthy, incredible antique porcelain candle holder by Meissen is STUNNING to say the very least. Classic raised embossed acanthus relief, with scalloped and flared rims, hand painted gold gilding and PERFECT proportions, is a masterpiece and designed to be used as a chamber light, far before the invention of electricity and probably made in the early 1800's. Hand inscribed initial(s?) and numerics to follow(157). Additionally, there is a number embossment and the telltale crossed swords WITH small pommels. Further, it's also marked with numbers and gold"21"...The incised initial (B? R?...) resembles the coveted and hard to find Augustus Rex, though I can't tell and that would be simply too incredible! This has no issues whatsoever and besides the age commensurate minor loss to the gold gilding (as shown in the photo's), this has somehow withstood the test of time and is in antique excellent condition. 6.25" handle to tip; 4.5" wide and about 2.5" tall.Shown and sold separately, other incredible antique porcelain items also available.
