Antique Majolica Shell Pattern Oyster Plate From Late 19th Century England:
My antique dealer authenticates this oyster plate as late 19th century English. It measures 9 1/8" in diameter and sits 5/8" above the table at the edge. The pink and white oyster holders are 2 3/4" X 2 1/2"...perfect for your kumamotos. The center server is 2 7/8" in diameter...perfect for your mignonette sauce. There is a raised sea shell pattern highlighting the servers. The bottom is signed with a "O". The plate weighs 1 pound 1.4 ounces.
This plate is in excellent condition for it's age and use. It has general crazing in the glaze; but, no cracks, chips or repairs. I can feel a tiny flea bite on the edge (pictured). Any other variations in color are under the glaze.
My friend did not bring me the oysters or the sauce with her plate. Her family has used this only as a decorative piece for generations.
I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping.
