Antique Mantel Clock Case - Unknown Origin For Sale
Antique Mantel Clock Case – Unknown Origin
This is a very unique case I’ve had for some time, I mounted a quartz movement in it years ago, but it finally quit, no longer have room for this clock, so moving it on, Note: The only reason I’m sending the quartz movement and bezel is so if the new owner wants to do the same they’ll have a bezel that fits, the movement “does not work”, just to show what I used.
The case measures 11 ½”L x 5”W x 11”H.
This is a very solid and ornate case, also heavy for its size, weighs in at five pounds, not sure what type wood it’s made of, maybe oak, you can tell it’s very old by the way it’s made, or someone went to the extreme to make it look so.
Has some cracks in the case on the front, and there is a small piece missing on the left front side, is missing most of the bottom line, of what I call beads, on the front, also missing a band or something that went around where the top mounts on, you can see the outline where it was at one time, there is a hole in the top that indicates it also had a top piece which is missing.
Has six very ornate feet that match the bead work on the clock, I think they’re made of brass, but not sure.
Back door is in great shape, has the latch that holds it shut.
Not sure how the original movement mounted, there are no holes inside the case which shows it was not screw mounted, the bottom is carved out indicating it had a pendulum style movement, or that’s my guess anyway.
In anyone has any information on this case, please let me know, I’ll add it to the description.
