Antique Mathewson's Gunpowder Can. Black Powder Tin. Muzzleloader, Civil War Era For Sale
Mathewson’s FFFF Gun Powder tin. Measures 7 inches tall, 3¾ inches wide and 1¼ inches deep. Retains the full paper label which does have a minor area of discoloration (looks like a drip of something) that is apparent in the right light. Remainder retains about 90% of the original red paint. There is some brown paper stuck to the back that I think will come off with a damp towel. No cap. According to Bacyk’s Gun Powder Cans & Kegs Vol. 2, this tin dates to the 1860’s. Great old tin.
