This is a great Mid-1800\'s Amerian Folk Art Wooden Handle Splint gathering basket. The basket measures 8 inches from the bottom to the upper rim, and about 12.5 inches from the bottom to the top of the handle. The diameter of the basket is approximately 12 inches. There is one minor break in the weave, the last photo shows that area and you can see a slightly lighter part of the basket were a very small piece of the missing splint covered another part of the basket and the patina is slightly lighter. The basket is in as found condition, so there is a lot of dust that has gathered in the bottom. It\'s a nice example of an early hand made midwestern ulitarian gathering basket!
