Antique Mohtasham Kashann Pictorial Persian Rug A+ Condition Very Rare:
Offering a first-quarter,twentieth century Kashan rug in the tradition of the famous Mohtasham workshop. This rug was made circa 1920.
Very soft wool (called kork wool) and a fine weave. Superb natural dyes and exquisite workmanship. Please take your time to observe the quality of the weave and how even seemingly minor details were given great attention!
The rug is essentially in mint condition. No issues to note. The size is 45 inches by 49 inches (not including fringe).
I purchased the rug many years ago from a Swiss dealer who in turn acquired the rug from a Swiss estate. It’s been in storage or never walked on for almost all of its life (I have kept it in storage or in very low traffic areas in the 20 years that I owned it).
A knowledgeablerug dealeronce told me that the picture is actually that of the city of Kashan. He even identified the public bathhouse (the structure with the magenta color). This is a very important and must-have piece for any collector, especially those who collectKashans. It’s really hard to find in such top condition.
In a good market this is a $6000 rug.
