Thisis a rare museum quality Odigba Ifa Yoruba Nigerian beaded diviner’s necklace. Ithas the face of Oduduwa the first ruler and OBA done in an ancestral handbeaded design on the front with hand woven cotton textile on the back. It’saccented with large glass European beads and sea shells. The intricate beadedface on the front is done in colors of green, white, orange & yellow and themulti-strand necklace is designed in colors of green, blue, and red. This is antruly an incredible treasure to add to your collection!

Theude esale hangs down against the chest. It is said that inside the pouch aresewn certain substances for protection and power for the diviner. Prior to itsuse, the necklace would receive a special bath in order to be blessed. Thisnecklace was worn by the diviner around his or her neck during importantceremonies, during the Ifa initiation process and at annual festivals to honordeities. The colors and abstract symbolic patterns refer to the powers andidentities of the deity of divination, Ifa, the figure to whom questions aredirected during the divination process.

CONDITION:Some surface wear, natural imperfections, broken beads due to age. It has onemissing large bead on the multi-strand necklace. No missing shells or loosestitching. See photos.
