Antique Original Ansonia Sybil And Winter Mantel Clock-circa1904:
This Original Ansonia Sybil and Winter Mantel Clock was made in 1904. This clock comes apart in 2 pieces between the statue and the base of the clock that it stands on. The clock is of Sybil carrying logs for the winter and the bottom of the clock is decorated with cherubs on each side and beautiful flowers and ribbons. This is a 8 day half hour gong strike. The clock is not ticking- probably needs a professional cleaning- can't say for sure. This clock has a porcelain dial and does have a crack on the dial between the 10 and 11 hour as shown in photos. The porcelain dial has the Ansonia triangle/square logo as well as MFD by Ansonia Clock Co New York USA (note the porcelain M is chipped off by MFD near the wind hole). The patina is wearing especially on the arm as shown in photo but this adds to the charm as well as age of the antique (I should only look so good at 109 years old as this statue). The glass bezel is intact. The clock is 24" tall and 10 3/4 inches from right to left and 8 " deep. This clock can be seen in Tran Duy Ly's book of Ansonia Clocks and Watches on page 388. This is a beautiful clock that shows Sybil with elegance and grace. These Original clocks don't come around very often. My father owned the business of Anitque Clocks and Toys. He passed away 5 years ago and I am now selling his collections. Feel free to message me with any questions. Please check my store often as I will be posting items frequently. Thank you
