An antique cream colored dutch ladies bonnet.Beautiful tulle lace cream and blue bonnet, hand made with little blue knots at one ince intervals to create a scalloped look.This bonnet is decorated by hand in wonderful embroidered floral designs at the ear covers and sewn in blue silk cotton. In the neck small sewn-in pleats with fine elastic in the hem to secure it in place.At the crown of the bonnet a small inlet of blue silk, also hand decorated with little pleats and finished off with a little ruffle of cream silk and again finished off with fine blue stiches.The cream tulle lace itself also has little pleats in it to give a wonderful effect and hold it firmly in place when worn. The sides of the bonnet have very fine elastic sewn into a hem which secures the bonnet further.The tulle lace and silk are all in good condition, no rips or tags only there is some staining which i think will come out with a soft rinse but i would rather leave that to the buyer.The ear flaps or covers have a stiff(maybe wire) material sewn into the hem to make them stay in place when turned up to give them the typical Dutch headwear look from that time which was traditional and fashionable.
This bonnet is most probably from the late 19th c or early 20th century.Check out my other antique bonnet on .
