~~~I bought this wonderful ANTIQUE quilt at an estate sale in HURTSBORO, ALABAMA...A 100+ year old farmhouse with fabulous antiques and beautiful old textiles...I love old quilts and just couldn't resist this antique beauty!
Amazing old ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CABIN,COTTAGE.... QUILT!
The unusual design is one that I've never seen before: In each block are Seven 6-pointed stars surrounded by a "wheel" of diamond shaped quilting design as seen on the backside has pattern!
Measures approx. 70" x 79"...
Approx. 1493 pieces in all, including:
12 blocks with approx. 98 pieces in each block.= approx. 1176 pieces.
4 half blocks with approx. 70pieces in each half block.= 280 pieces
37 pieces in background and dividing pieces.
I'm no quilt expert...but believe this quiltto be very, very old....
A lot of fading, esp. on the olive green background....The backside/liningseems to be a muslin type fabric...very soiled...I haven't attempted to clean it...someone familiar with old quilts will know the technique....Tattered and frayed on one edge and border...one piece on each of three stars is slightly frayed. The main body of the quilt with the blocks, stars and wheels is in good shape, exceptfor the fading and needing washing. It has the old-fashioned cotton battinglayer between to frontsideand old, oldfabrics...Background is"olive drab green"...dividing pieces bordering each blockare dark red....
Perfect colors for aPrimitive, RUSTIC FARMHOUSE or LOG CABIN decor!
....old FEEDSACK & clothingFABRICS... an heirloom to pass down to YOUR children and grandchildren
Note: My Grandaddy had a small grocery store when I was a child, and I remember these flour and feedsacks very well! Granny would use the sack fabrics for clothing and LOVEtoship international!!!...please contact me for a shipping quote BEFORE Merci Beaucoup,
