You are offerding on an antique RARE 17th century smallsword with blade marked ANTHONIO PICHINIO. It is a nice example in good condition. It is 36.5 inches long from which the blade is 31 inches. This date from around 1650-1690. Blade in good condition, hilt show a repair probably modern, one of the cross bars has been repaired or reinforced. I think the hilt was silver plated and bi-color at one point. The scabbard is probably a re-construction with the use of the original belt fitting. The Cleveland Museum of Art has similar example made by the same maker and they date the sword to around 1650-1680 and indicate the maker as being Italian and active around that era. Also there is on in Bashford Dean catalog and other. The blades that I found marked Anthonio Pichinio (and not Antonio Pichinio) are very similar in construction, decoration and markings so I think this is a different maker that worked in the second half of the 17th century and not the one probably more known Antonio Pichinio. Nice interesting sword. Scroll down to see all the pictures. Please check back this week as I will be listing many interesting items. and have fun... and offer high:-)
