Antique Rare Art Deco Floating Opal Horace Welch Pendant, 14k :
Horace H. Welch Floating Opal Pendant in 14K Gold Art Deco Mount:RARE. Hard to find in such perfect condition. This flawless floating opal pendant was made by Horace H. Welch, who invented "floating opal" jewelry. The 14K Art Deco mount/cap is hallmarked "14K PATS. PEND", which attributes it to Welch and dates it between 1929 and 1931. This is a particularly exquisite example of this genre of pendant -- there are no bubbles in the glycerin and the opal flakes are mesmerizing when they catch light. The glass bulb is in amazing condition -- no scratches or nicks and the gold mount also looks as if it never left Grandma's jewel box.The 18" delicate chain is unlikely to be original and is unmarked. I will venture a guess that it is 1/12K gold-filled, based on its tone. Regardless, it compliments the pendant well. Please check my seller response and offer with confidence.
